Anti-Reflective (AR) Glass is an engineered optical substrate coated with a multi-layer nano-scale thin film system designed to suppress Fresnel reflections at the air–glass interface. By applying controlled refractive-index gradients across multiple dielectric layers, AR coatings create destructive interference for reflected wavelengths while maintaining high transmission through the visible spectrum.

The coating system typically consists of colorless, broadband-optimized dielectric films, deposited with high uniformity on one or both sides of the glass. This reduces surface reflectance from the natural 8% of standard glass to ≤1–2%, while achieving >95% luminous transmittance, depending on the film stack design and substrate quality.

AR glass improves signal-to-noise ratio for optical systems, enhances display legibility under high ambient illumination, and provides stable performance across varying angles of incidence. Its optical characteristics make it suitable for precision display modules, industrial human–machine interfaces, imaging windows, and other applications requiring minimized reflectance and controlled spectral transmission.
